Cal. 50. NSN. Bbl. 7 1/2" octagon to round with faceted transition and muzzle and smoothbore. Top flat is engraved "J. P. Beck". J. P. Beck 1760s - 1811 of Lebanon County PA. was a builder of flintlock rifles and pistols. He was the father of Christian Beck. Right flat has partially legible makers marking "W. Buchelle". Modern pistol from parts kit. Unmarked iron lock. Plain trigger. Bbl. & lock have fine browned refinish. Pin fastened modern round butt replacement stock of curly maple. Silver finished fittings include, grotesque mask buttcap, floral finial trigger guard, floral pattern pierced sideplate, ornate wrist plate, nose cap, faceted thimble and a single faceted pipe. The stock features drop points behind the lock and sideplate with incise carving around the top tang and above the ramrod channel. Hardwood ramrod is artificially striped. Weight: 1 lbs, 12.5 oz. CONDITON: bbl. & lock retain most restored browned finish. Very good stock finish shows light marks with a hairline crack forward of the lock. Silver finished fittings show partial cleaning leaving areas of remaining dark tarnish. Sound lock. Dark pitted bore. (01-27927/DS). ANTIQUE $1,200-1,800.
