Lot 4359 UNMARKED FULL STOCK KENTUCKY TYPE PERCUSSION RIFLE

Cal. 50. S# NSN. The 41-3/4" octagon barrel fitted with "U" notch rear and German silver blade front sights is unmarked. Barrel appears to have been converted from flint with drum and nipple. Front spring percussion lock has remnants of engraving on tail and is fitted with flat face percussion hammer. Triggers are double set. Iron trigger guard has curl forming grip. Full length stock with brass cap at muzzle is made of maple with tight curly grain and is fitted with brass buttplate. Swept right hand cheekpiece as some incised carving along edge. Right side of butt is scratched "8.DWdS". CONDITION: fair to good. Metal cleaned to gray brown. Stock with old finish shows hand wear and some cleaning on comb. Bore is good with strong rifling throughout; very dark in grooves. Triggers will not set so lock will not cock. (01-28572/MGM). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
