PERCUSSION RIFLE. CAL.38. S# 1716. Per "American Gunsmiths" by Frank Sellers, David Hall Hilliard (1805-1877) operated in Cornish, New Hampshire from 1842-1877 making underhammer guns. Smoothbore, oct. 20.75" bbl. w/ hardwood ramrod. Blade front sight & staff for rear sight; notch & elevator missing. Straight trigger. Walnut stock w/ brass furniture. German silver hare on cheekpiece. CONDITION: barrel has heavily pitted & patina'd appearance with marks. Good wood finish with light dings. Dark pitted bore. Action appears to function when cycled by hand. (01-28386/MD). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
