Cal. 45 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 3 1/4". Unmarked flintlock pistol of European origin. Lockplate, breech flats, and sideplate exhibit light decorative engraving. Bbl. features a faceted breech, followed by a grooved band at the center that transitions to a rnd. contour and an additional grooved band at the muzzle. 1-piece plain wood stock, with relief carved foliate motifs on rear of wrist. Iron sideplate, pommel cap (with stirrups), and trigger guard. Complete with plain wood ramrod. CONDITION: metal components have acquired a gray patina, showing scattered spots of pitting and age related discoloration. Pommel cap has acquired a dark mottled gray patina. Proper manual mechanics, although the hammer drops when the trigger is pulled at half cock. Stock shows scattered marks and small impressions, with chipping present along edges. (01-27961/MLW).
