Lot 4328 DUTCH MODEL 1753 FLINTLOCK PISTOL.

Cal. 75 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 8 5/8". Model 1753 flintlock pistol produced in the Netherlands during the Reign of King Frederick V. The lockplate is engraved with a crown above an intertwined "F5", with an small boxed stamp that appears to read "IA" marked between the frizzen spring. Top of the bbl. is marked with a crown proof at the breech, with an indiscernible proof marked on the left side. Grooved bbl. tang is marked with a partially discernible "L E/ (INDISCERBILE CHARACTER) 1". Rear trigger guard tang is engraved "L.E. 116". 1-piece plain wood stock with iron finger curl trigger, brass sideplate, pommel cap (with side stirrups), trigger guard, and single long tang ramrod ferrule. Complete with original brass tipped hardwood ramrod with coiled iron bottom. CONDITION: iron lock assembly and bbl. have been cleaned at one time, exhibiting a gray patina with consistent light to mild pitting present overall. Brass furniture has acquired a pleasing mellow patina. Rear trigger guard tang exhibits a small crack on either side of the screw. Proper manual mechanics, although the hammer drops when the trigger is pulled at half cock. Stock shows scattered superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, with some chipping present around the lockplate. Right side of the stock exhibits a crack on the forearm tip and under the lock along the right edge. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (01-27430/MLW). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
