Lot 4326 PAIR OF TWIST BARREL PERCUSSION PISTOLS WITH BRASS
CASE. 1) BELGIAN TWIST BARREL FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 43 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 1 15/16". Screw bbl. percussion pistol produced in Belgium by an unknown mfg. Sides of frame exhibit light foliate engraving, which extends to the underside and bottom flat of the trigger. Underside of frame exhibits a Belgian "E/ LG/ *" proof within an oval. 1-piece checkered wood rnd. butt stock with relief carved foliate pattern on ears. Center hammer action with folding trigger. CONDITION: metal components have been cleaned and polished, exhibiting a bright exterior with scattered spots of light pitting and age related discoloration. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows some superficial handling marks, but otherwise remains sound. 2) UNMARKED TWIST BARREL PERCUSSION PISTOL. Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. 2 11/16". Unmarked and unproofed twist bbl. percussion pistol, possibly of Belgian origin.1-piece checkered wood stock. Center hammer action. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brass case featuring floral engraving on lid, containing a brass powder flask and medallion that appears to read "LBLAUT/ OMSWART". CONDITION: metal components have been cleaned and polished, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration. Action does not function. Percussion nipple is flattened, with the hammer exhibiting a notable crack around the cone and a crack along the right side of the body. Stock has been refinished, exhibiting scattered handling marks, with a crack stemming from the upper frame tang. Case and powder flask exhibit a pleasing mellow patina.
