Cal. 52. NSN. Bbl 11" dbl taper oct with rifled bore. Top flat has silver inlaid mfg marking "E. Bischoff". Breech and muzzle ends have silver inlaid lines. Blade front sight. Breech end of bbl is stamped "1" indicating gun 1 of a two bbl set. Lock, top tang, trigger guard, trigger plate finial have finely done vine type floral engraving. Lock is marked "AUGSBURG" referring to the Bavarian town in the south of Germany. Ornate sideplate depicts two interlocking fish with serpentine heads. Schnable tipped wedge fastened walnut stock with ornate checkering and leaf carved pommel having an engraved buttcap. German silver wedge escutcheons and wrist plate. CONDITION: bbl retains 70% fading blue showing edge wear and handling marks. Lock and hammer fittings fading blue. Original stock finish shows scattered scratches and marks. Sound lock. Bore retains strong rifling showing some darkness in grooves. (01-27992/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
