Lot 4307 SCARCE SMALL SIZE 4 BARREL DUCKFOOT FLINTLOCK

BOXLOCK PISTOL BY JOSEPH BUNNEY. Cal. 32. S# NSN. The 1-5/8" cannon turned screw off barrels with star muzzles are numbered 1 through 4 on tops matching numbers on manifold breech. Barrels are fired all at once with boxlock flint action with reinforced cock and frizzen with internal spring. Left side of action is engraved "BUNNEY" within scroll device; "LONDON" is on right side. No proofs are found. (Joseph Bunney is known to have been working in Birmingham between 1766-1825.) Flat sided walnut stock with bag grip is decorated with scrolling inlaid silver wire. CONDITION: fair to good. Metal parts showing overall cleaning to pewter gray/brown. Stock shows wear with minor loss to silver. Lock is operable but soft. Bores are dark and pitted. Barrels will not screw off. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (01-27521/MGM).
