Lot 4303 PR. OF BOXLOCK FLINTLOCK POCKET PISTOLS IN FANTASY
CASE DISGUISED AS A BOOK. Cal. 45 (both). S# NSN (both). This pair of pistols, probably continental, measure 7-1/4" overall and have 2-1/4" screw off cannon turned barrels. Boxlock type flint lock actions feature reinforced cocks, frizzens with external springs and sliding safetys that lock frizzens in place. Actions are engraved with floral motifs. Skip line checkered European walnut grips have raised carved decorations on side panels and silver pin accents to checkering. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: pistols are housed in leather bound book with hinged silver clasps that is lined in mauve velvet. Bottom compartment is semi-French fitted for both pistols. CONDITION: good to fine. Metal parts cleaned to bright silver on actions. Barrels with most of a re-brown. Stocks are good, lightly worn. Book is good with considerable wear to edges of spine.
