^Lot 4302 ENGLISH NICHOLSON CENTER HAMMER O/U FLINTLOCK

PISTOL. Cal. 45. NSN. Bbls. 3". Center hammer O/U flintlock pistol produced by Nicholson of London, England. Sides of the receiver feature decorative line border engraving, with "NICHOLSON" within an oval surmounted by a panoply of arms engraved on the left and "CORN HILL/ LONDON" engraved on the right between a foliate embellishment. Right side of receiver and bbls. are engraved "3" (next to and on top bbl.) and "2" (next to and on bottom bbl.). Underside of receiver is stamped with English Crown/GP and Crown/V proofing. Pistol features a rotating flash pan, engraved with a floral motif on either side (also present on underside of trigger guard bow. 1-piece plain wood stock. Center hammer action with sliding safety plate. CONDITION: metal components have faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration overall. Hammer is loose and gets hung up upon pulling the trigger. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. (01-26956/MLW). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
