FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 40. NSN. Bbl. 2 5/16". Twist bbl. center hammer flintlock pistol mfg. in England by Mabson & Labron. Left lockplate is engraved with a panoply of arms behind a panel that reads "MABSON/ & LABRON", with the right side of the frame featuring a full panoply of arms. Underside of receiver is marked with 3 assorted British proofs at the breech area. Bbl. features a band of feathered engraving at and around the muzzle area, which extends to the top of the sliding safety plate. 1-piece plain wood grip is inlaid with an apparent silver oval escutcheon on the rear of the wrist. Center hammer flintlock action, with smoothbore bbl., notched frizzen (for safety plate), and folding trigger. CONDITION: metal components have faded to a mottled gray patina, showing some spots of light pitting, with some dings and impressions present on the bbl. Bore exhibits scattered spots of mild to moderate pitting. Proper manual mechanics. Lower receiver tang is split at the screw slot. Stock shows scattered superficial handling marks and some small minor impressions overall. Both sides of stock exhibit a chip and crack stemming from the receiver. (01-28008/MLW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
