Lot 4291 FANCY SILVER INLAID QUEEN ANNE STYLE SCREW BARREL

FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 61. S# NSN. 12-1/2" overall. The 5-1/4" cannon turned screw off barrel is unmarked. Breech with integral lockplate has British proof on bottom. Side mounted flint lock has round bodied serpentine cock, integral rounded pan, bridled friction frizzen and feather spring with foliate finial. Breech has some scroll engraving within line borders. Knob grip walnut stock is silver mounted with relief cast grip cap embellished with flags, horns and helm. Vacant crest plate is surrounded by arms and helmet. A scrolling sideplate is pierced. Stock is inlaid with coils of silver wire and many floral designs behind and around barrel tang and along edges of grip cap. CONDITION: good. Iron and steel parts cleaned to pewter gray. Silver lightly toned. Stock shows considerable wear and many silver inlaid pieces are missing. Bore is dark and pitted. Mechanically good; main spring is very strong.
