Lot 4289 LIKELY ENGLISH BRASS FLINTLOCK PISTOL WITH FOLDING

BAYONET. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 4". Brass flintlock pistol of apparent English origin. Pistol is devoid of a mfg. mark and identifying proofs. Sides of the 1-piece brass receiver/bbl. are engraved with English pattern panoplies of arms. Underside of the iron trigger guard bow is engraved with a starburst motif. Octagonal bbl. terminates in a cannon style muzzle, and features an iron spring loaded folding bayonet, retained/released by the trigger guard. Sides of the 1-piece crosshatched wood stock features a raised oval section inlaid with a wire starburst inside of an oval, inside of a diamond, with small wire starburst patterns inlaid towards the receiver. CONDITION: brass frame/bbl. has acquired a dull mellow patina, showing some scattered spots of verdigris. Iron parts have faded to a gray patina. Sound lock. Grip shows some superficial handling marks and small impressions, but otherwise remains very good overall. (01-26957/MLW). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
