LEE CAPTURED FROM ARLINGTON. 3" x 5" page from Union soldier scrapbook with 3 lines tipped from Nov. 30, 1851 ALS to son Custis when he was cadet at West Point. "A soldier's word is as good as his bond" was cut from letter along with signature line "your devoted father RE Lee". Soldier who collected the autographs states "taken from Arlington House, Va [Lee's home & national cemetery] Nov. 1862, HDQ 3rd Corps". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of dealer listing with comments. CONDITION: very good as tipped onto page, signature line tightly cut with top of "E" cut off, page has other autographs on reverse including John Worden, Captain of Monitor. (02-25025-51/JS).
