^Lot 4168 FINE UNIQUE PUBLISHED CONFEDERATE MEMPHIS NOVELTY

WORKS BOWIE. Pictured on page 125 of "CONFEDERATE BOWIE KNIVES", this is only surviving example with unique heavy brass lozenge shaped cross guard and original brass mounted scabbard. 20" overall, 15" double edged cutlass style blade, 1.7" wide, .24" thick with medial ridge, Selma-style cast feathered guard usually associated with naval cutlasses, but this was made as big CS side knife. CONDITION: very good overall, blade has some staining& light pitting, original scabbard missing drag, well fit. PROVENANCE: ex-John Ashworth collection. (02-26059/JS). NON-GUN. $6,000-9,000.
