^Lot 4167 CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE CAVALRY SABER.

This classical Confederate Cavalry saber measures 42 1/4" overall with a plain 34 1/2" blade featuring a single unstopped fuller. Coppery brass hilt with a standard two branch guard leading to a crudely formed phygian cap pommel. Leather grip with single copper wire wrap. Iron scabbard with a crude lap seam on lower edge. The scabbard features brass loops with iron suspension rings and an exaggerated iron drag. CONDITION: blade has a mottled gray patina with evidence of light pitting and a few small nicks to the edge. Hilt has a dark patina. Grip leather is about 70% and noticeably shrunk. Wire is complete. Scabbard has an oxidized finish and the loops have a dark mustard patina. (02-26066/BF).
