Lot 4158 FINE CASED CIVIL WAR ERA 3RD MODEL LARGE BORE
TRANTER REVOLVER. Cal. 54 bore (~.45). S# 10557 T. Standard configuration of 3rd model with no hammer spur, double action only, double trigger with spur, 6" octagonal unmarked barrel, integral notched rear sight, loading assembly marked "TRANTERS PATENT" attached to left side of frame which has scroll engraving en suite to frame, trigger guard, and butt cap, single trigger with spur. S# engraved on right side of frame "No. 10557 T", mounted with one piece checkered walnut grips. Revolver is housed in original green baize lined oak casing compartmented for revolver, bag flask, brass 54 bore 2 cavity bullet mold, green label G.D. cap tin, Tranter green label bullet tin, brass & rosewood loading tool, ebony handled screwdriver, pewter oiler, and patch tin. CONDITION: revolver is very fine overall as refinished, retaining virtually all refinished bright blue finish on barrel, cylinder & frame. Casing is very good overall with Arabic text label, accouterments are good. Revolver is mechanically fine, good dark rifled bore with light pitting.
