Cal. 44. S# 1755. This unique solid frame hammerless double action revolver was made in small quantities 1862-1863. Several hundred were issued to Michigan cavalry units. Standard configuration. Top of frame marked "PETTENGILLS / PATENT 1858" & "RAYMOND & ROBITAILLE / PATENTED 1858", 7.5" octagonal barrel, bottom of frame stamped "PATENTED / NOV 4, 1862", flared wood grips. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, retaining about 10% original finish, balance silver/gray, grips sound. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of John "Jack" Dhooghe. (01-28251/JS).
