Lot 4127 CIVIL WAR MARTIAL STARR DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER.
Cal. 44. S# 8559. Standard configuration, 6" barrel, blued finish, hinged frame, maker & patent marks on either side of frame. About 20,000 of these revolvers were issued by US cavalry during the Civil War & many saw service receiving good reviews by troops using them. This is a good survivor, retaining much of its original finish with crisp inspection cartouches. CONDITION: very good-fine overall, original & complete, frame retains about 80% bright blue finish, barrel has traces blue in protected areas, cylinder has no finish and overall mottled gray/brown. Markings are crisp. Grips are well-fit, bright pair inspector cartouches, denting & chip in butt. Mechanically fine, crisp rifled bore. (01-28530/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
