Lot 4046 1827 DATED WATERS MODEL 1816 RECONVERTED FLINTLOCK

MUSKET. Cal. 69. NSN. Standard configuration model 1816, 42" barrel, "V P" proofed, welded on top where nipple removed, still chemically rusted and never polished out to finish reconversion back to flint. The new attached brass pan was never milled to fit, machine marks on frizzen spring not polished out. It appears this musket was ready to be finished but never was. A gunsmith could easily finish cosmetic work needed to make a presentable arm. CONDITION: good overall, lock components are restorations, otherwise original. Lock functions well, dark smooth bore. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (01-27114/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
