Lot 4043 COMPOSITE NEW ENGLAND (?) FLINTLOCK MUSKET.

Cal. 75. S# NSN. Musket appears to be a mix of British, French and American parts. The 42-1/4" British caliber round barrel is unmarked and attaches to stock with three French style brass bands held by springs. Lock appears to be sourced from an 1808 US musket with remnants of markings and date erased. Stock with unique dipped comb has brass sideplate and trigger guard as found on an early Brown Bess muskets. Trumpet shaped ramrod is present. CONDITION: fair to good. Iron and steel parts are lightly pitted brown patina and show some cleaning on lock. Stock with old oil finish has added decorative brass tacks. Bore is pitted. Lock is operable with top jaw and screw early hand forged replacements. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (01-27460/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
