^Lot 4026 CIVIL WAR MODEL 1864 BURNSIDE SADDLE RING CARBINE.

Cal. 54. S# 18696. Standard configuration of popular well received Civil War with several improvements to this last model, 39" overall, 21" barrel stamped "CAST STEEL", two position rear leaf sight, tall pinched blade front sight. This carbine utilized the unique Ambrose Burnside design "ice cream cone" shaped brass percussion cartridge. Marked "BURNSIDE PATENT / MODEL OF 1864" on breech & "BURNSIDE RIFLE CO / PROVIDENCE RI" on back action lock. CONDITION: fine overall & all matching. Barrel this overall plum patina with strong traces of blue finish, stained near muzzle. Stocks very good, sound and well fit, 2 crisp inspector cartouches. Mechanically fine w/ crisp bright bore.
