Lot 4014 CIVIL WAR REMINGTON MAYNARD PERCUSSION CONVERSION

MUSKET. Cal. 69. NSN. The Frankfort Arsenal made these Remington/Maynard alterations between 1856 to 1859. This example is dated 1857 on lock and patent breech. Alteration included rifling barrel and replacing flint lock with Remington made percussion lock with Maynard tape primer which is functional. Lock marked "REMINGTON'S / ILION N.Y. / 1857 / U.S.". 57.5" overall, 42" barrel. The patent breech replaces the last inch of the original barrel and is dated 1857 with indiscernible unit markings. CONDITION: good overall, appears complete and matching, cleaned gray metal with pitting, missing rear fixed sight. Unknown unit initials and rack number stamped on bottom of stock and triggerguard.
