Lot 3604 MARLIN MODEL 39 LEVER ACTION RIFLE.
Cal. 22 s,l,lr. S#. 17525. Bbl. 24" tapered octagon with cut rifling. Bead front with elevator adj. sporting rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Case colored action. Top tang has the star inspectors mark. Custom stock and forend of nicely grained black walnut. The forearm is an unusually wide beavertail style that is tapered at the rear to match the receiver contour. It has wraparound point pattern hand checkering with a carved oval at the bottom bearing the "MA" Marlin logo. The matching stock retains the typical M39 "S" curved pistol grip and has segmented point pattern checkering. The hard rubber buttplate is ornately grooved with a shield near the toe marked with the initial "M" and an apparent upside down number 5. The model 39 was introduced in 1922 and succeeded by the model 39A in 1936. CONDITION: barrel & mag tube retain 90% lightly worn blue. The action has 70% lightly faded case colors showing spots of corrosion. The wood finish finish shows scattered marks & mildew spots. Sound action. Very nice bright bore. (25-1312/DS).
