Sequential pair of Model 1873 Trapdoor Officer's Model single shot rifles produced by Harrington & Richardson to commemorate H&R's centennial. Left side of the bbls. are marked "U.S. MODEL 1873/ CAL. 45-70 GOVT.", followed by "P", with H&R's mfg. information marked on the right. Left side of the breech section of the receivers are marked "H&R", with the S#s marked on the right. Top of breechblocks are marked "U.S./ MODEL/ 1873". Right side of the bbl. bands are marked "U". The lockplates are marked with a patriotic eagle followed by "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD" surmounted by foliate scroll engraving, which extends to the side of the hammers, top of the breech sections of the receiver, areas of the breechblocks, upper receiver tangs, upper buttplate tangs, trigger guard bows, as well as the top of the bbl. bands. Receivers, breechblocks, hammers, lockplates, rear sight assemblies, trigger guards, and buttplates exhibit a case colored finish, with the bbls. and bbl. bands exhibiting a blue finish. 1-piece single band fastened checkered wood straight grip buttstocks with engraved pewter tipped nose caps. Underside of stocks are stamped with an encircled "P" cartouche on the toeline. Brass beaded dovetailed blade front sights with Vernier style tang mounted aperture rear sights. Each rifle is complete with its hardwood non-ferrous metal tipped cleaning rod. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original factory shipping boxes (matching via a handwritten S# on one end label) containing factory styrofoam inserts and factory manuals. 1 box retains its brass commemorative oval plaque marked "OFFICER'S MODEL/ SPRINGFIELD RIFLE/ Harrington & Richardson Centennial/ 1871-1971". CONDITION: rifles retain the vast majority of their original factory finishes, showing no signs of prior use, exhibiting some scattered spots/areas of light to mild surface oxidation that is predominately on the buttplates and bbl. bands. Case colored parts/components retain virtually all of their original vibrant factory finish. Mirror bores, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stocks are excellent overall, exhibiting few minute superficial handling marks. Boxes show general overall wear, with some minor tearing at end flap edges. 1 box shows several holes, with the other missing one of its short side end flaps, but both otherwise remains sound.
