Lot 3546 SCARCE SPRINGFIELD 1871 WARD BURTON BOLT ACTION
RIFLE.Cal. 50-70. NSN. Bbl. 32 5/8". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 900yds. Scarce early Springfield Armory bolt action rifle with only 1,011 rifles made. Walnut stock with bottom mounted sling swivels. Left side of stock has faint inspector's cartouche. Ramrod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: repro manual. CONDITION: stock appears lightly sanded with some improper band removal wear, light chipping in ramrod channel, dings & handling marks. Bands & buttplate have a bright appearance with dings & oxidation. Other metal parts have a dull gray appearance with scattered old oxidation edge wear & light dings. Action appears to function properly when hand cycled. Bore shows scattered pitting but strong rifling. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28415/MJC). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
