Cal. 45-70. S# 6513. Standard configuration with 22" barrel, square base front sight, 1200 yard adjustable ladder rear sight. Breech marked "MODEL / 1873" with an eagle head over crossed arrows & "US". Lock plate marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873" & the spread wing eagle. Full stock has oval "Ainsworth" inspection cartouche "ESA", circle inspection "P" rear of trigger guard, single barrel band, saddle ring bar. The S# 6513 indicates manufacture 1874, prime serial range of Indian Wars. CONDITION: very good overall, complete & original, matching, mottled patina, light pitting. Discernible cartouches.
