Cal. 45-70. S#. 81482. Bbl. 28" round. Pinned blade front with military style leaf rear sight. Blue & case colored finish. Tubular magazine is located in the stock. Band fastened forend & walnut stock with steel musket buttplate. Right side of the stock has hand carved initials that mat be "F A". UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: apparently modern 3 1/4" brass tag marked: " BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS / WYOMING TERRITORY / CORPSE NO. ___ / PROPERTY OF US GOVERNMENT". Cody Firearms Museum letter dated 9-4-2003 and signed by Waddy Colvert. The letter states: "Musket / Received in warehouse on February 21, 1895 / Shipped from warehouse on April 11, 1906, order number 51548". CONDITION: the metal has a mottled brown appearance with areas of rust & pitting. The wood has an oil soaked appearance with dent & marks having chips & small cracks around the metal. Cleaning rod is not present. Functioning action. Pitted bore with worn rifling. (01-26766/DS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
