Lot 3488 ALWAYS DESIRABLE SERIAL NUMBER "22" MODEL 1883
.22 RIMFIRE GATLING GUN WITH CARRIAGE, BY KARL FURR & PAUL KUHNI. Cal. 22. S# 22. Bbl. 12". Model 1883 miniature gatling gun chambered in .22 Rimfire mfg. by Karl. J. Furr and Paul Kuhni in 1970. Top of the receiver is marked "MANUFD BY/ Colts Pat FA Mfg. Co./ HARTFORD CONN" ahead of the mag. well, with "GATLING GUN/ PATENTED" on a brass disc and "MODEL 1883/ NO 22/ CAL 22" marked to the rear of the mag. well. Underside of gearbox is hand inscribed "made by/ Karl J. Furr & Pual J. Kuhni/ Orem, ut. Dec. 1970.". Brass construction with near full length brass bbl. cluster shroud. Sides of receiver at muzzles feature 2 brass spike iron sights, with one U-notch rear sight present on the right side at the rear. Top of gearbox features 2 bubble levels, both of which do not appear to retain any liquid. Carriage and mag./ammunition boxes are constructed of brass. Wheels are constructed of wood, featuring brass fittings and bands. All serialized parts are matching and include the receiver, pintle/T&E assembly, pintle/T&E washer, carriage, as well as the mag. Crank lever handle and right trunnion pin are absent. MAGS: 1 brass Accles pattern "donut" 61-rd. drum mag. CONDITION: brass on the gun, pintle, and carriage has acquired a mellow darkened patina, showing some spots of verdigris overall. Bbls. exhibit some oxidation at and around the muzzle faces. Bores are mostly very bright, with some exhibiting areas of mild surface oxidation. All retain strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. One of the handles on the T&E adj. lever has broken off, but remains present. Carriage exhibits a matching patina to the receiver and remains sound, with wheels retaining traces of varnish.
