MAQUAIRE DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH DISPLAY CASE. Cal. 11mm. S# 6224. Bbl. 4 1/2". Fagnus Maquaire double action revolver mfg. in France by Fabrique De St. Etienne. The Fagnus Maquaire revolver closely resembles the French Model 1874 revolver, albeit with several notable improvements and external differences. The top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked "ACIER FONDU" (French: "CAST STEEL), with "FABRIQUE/ DE ST ETIENNE" marked on the left and "MOUVEMENT/ ACIER" (French: "STEEL MOVEMENT" marked on the right. The frame features near full coverage bordered foliate scroll engraving, which extends to the sideplate takedown lever, sides of the cyl., trigger guard bow, as well as the pommel cap. Recoil shield and cyl. latch exhibit bands of decorative engraving, with each flat of the faceted bbl. exhibiting a geometric line design engraved at the breech area. Metal components exhibit a nickel plated finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown hard rubber grips, featuring a lanyard swivel and ring on the butt. Thick dovetailed blade front sight with integral large frame U-notched rear sight. Cyl. matches the frame via "24". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unrelated wood NRA display case with glass lid. Case is housed within a cardboard shipping box. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original nickel plated finish, exhibiting scattered small spots of flaking and wear that show through to dark oxidation overall. Bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining well defined 4-groove rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as a couple of scattered marks from handling and storage, with the left panel exhibiting a chip beneath the rear trigger guard tang.
