Lot 3468 EARLY MERWIN & HULBERT LARGE FRAME OPEN TOP SA

REVOLVER. Cal. 44 M&H. S# 358. Bbl. 7" rnd. with integral semi-circular front sight. Scoop fluted 6-shot cyl. Left side of frame is without caliber marking, confirming .44 M&H cartridge. Left side of bbl. is Hopkins & Allen mfg. marked. Nickel finish. 2-piece mottled red and black checkered hard rubber square butt grips. Bbl. rotates and slides forward with the cyl. for loading and extraction. Frame, cyl., and bbl. show matching S#s. Estimated quantity of several thousand mfg. 1876-1880's. CONDITION: over 85% nickel finish showing spots of finish loss and corrosion along with scratches and handling marks, most notably on the cyl. and grip straps. Case colored hammer and trigger have largely faded to gray. Grips show light wear. Bore is generally bright with strong rifling showing small spots of very light pitting.
