ARMY REVOLVER USED BY JOHN WAYNE IN HIS FIRST STARRING ROLE IN 1930 "THE BIG TRAIL" & IN 1959 BY LORNE GREENE IN EP. 5 BONANZA. Cal. 44/38. S#17901. This distinctive nickel Civil War Remington New Model Army revolver was used extensively by John Wayne in his first starring role in the 1930 film "The Big Trail". Revolver has distinctive unique cross hatched design on 8" barrel so it is easy to distinguish in John Wayne's hand in movie stills. The revolver was altered to cartridge, and cylinder half sleeved to shoot 38 caliber blanks by Stembridge, Hollywood's largest motion picture rental of firearms. Stembridge "S" property stamp found on bottom of frame and their added S# on butt.
