Cal. 44 RF. NSN. Mfg. 1860's-1870's. Half rnd., half oct. 25 7/8" barrel. Globe post front sight, elevator adj. rear sight & base for tang sight. Large iron frame with external hammer & triggerguard bow acting has opening lever with latch at tip of bow. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ crescent buttplate. CONDITION: barrel shows traces of original blue with balance has brown corroded appearance. Receiver has gray patina appearance with marks & oxidation. Worn wood finish with large crack through top of wrist & deep vice marks at tip of forearm along with dings. Bore shows strong rifling with light pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick.
