SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 44 Evans New Model CF. NSN. Approx. 10,000 mfg. 1877-1897. Oct. 26". Blade front sight, ladder rear sight. Unique 28 rd. tubular magazine that loads from butt surrounded by walnut buttstock. CONDITION: barrel has brown patina appearance with areas of corrosion & cleaning pitting throughout. Receiver has faint traces of blue mixed with brown patina with scattered spots of corrosion. Worn wood finish with numerous deep dings & scratches. Balance of bore has good shallow rifling with visible shine & pitting around muzzle. Action appears to function when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (01-28369/MD).
