RIFLE. Cal.5MM Remington Centerfire. S#. 3441. Bbl. 25" tapered octagon. Unique custom target rifle built on a J. M. Marlin Ballard,ca. 1875-1881. The action has generous coverage of unsigned vine type foliate scroll hand engraving with punch dot backgrounds. The breech block is polished bright with jeweled sides. Custom stock & forend of exotic wood that may be Mesquite. Rosewood tipped wide target forend is fitted with a walnut palm rest. Pistol grip stock with a roll over cheekpiece is fitted with a Scheutzen style buttplate with a long lower prong. Leupold gloss finished 24X50 AO Target scope with fine dot reticle on Weaver style mounts. Consignor supplied information states "James Grant's personal rifle). UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: The rifle is held in a modern foam lined plastic case with cleaning rod, brushes and palm rest. Included is a 50 round box of 5mm Remington Magnum centerfire primed cases supplied by Schroeder Bullets, San Diego, CA. (formed from .22 Hornet cases). Also a box of Sierra Matchking .224 diameter 53 gr. HP bullets. This wild cat cartridge is dimensionally the same as the rimfire cartridge chambered in the Remington 591-592 series bolt action rifle in the early 1970's.
