^Lot 3419 FINE & RARE COLT PONY EXPRESS PRESENTATION MODEL

SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH DISPLAY CASE & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 45 LC. S# PE408E. 1 of only approx. 1,000 Single Action Army revolvers mfg. by Colt circa. the mid-1960s. The left side of the bbl. is marked "~RUSSELL, MAJORS AND WADDELL~/ PONY EXPRESS PRESENTATION MODEL", with Colt's single line address marked across the top, and "COLT .45 PEACEMAKER" marked on the right. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Rear grip strap is marked "SALT LAKE CITY TO FORT LARAMIE". Metal components exhibit a nickel plated finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt silver medallion plain wood grips. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, cyl., as well as the trigger guard & rear grip strap (beneath left grip panel). Grips are matching via "308", which is handwritten in white grease pencil on the interior of the panels. Frame and loading gate exhibit matching assembly #s "563". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: wood display case with glass lid containing 3 commemorative medallions, as well as 2 matching cyls. (x1 matching via "408EF" and the other "408ER"). Cyl. "408EF" is engraved with a portrait of Russel, Majors, and Waddell above "FOUNDERS", as well as with a man on horseback above "120 CELEBRATED RIDERS/ RODE 650,000 MILES". Cyl. "408ER" is engraved with a route of notable stops from St. Joseph, MO to Sacramento, CA. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory nickel plated finish, exhibiting few light superficial handling marks overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics (with cyl. removed to preserve condition). Grips are excellent overall. Display case shows some superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. Spare cyls. are fine overall. (25-6720/MLW). CURIO. $1,750-2,500.
