ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH DISPLAY CASE. Cal. 45 Colt. S# CJWC0379. Bbl. 4 3/4". John Wayne commemorative Single Action Army revolver mfg. by Colt. Left side of the bbl. features a patriotic eagle grasping a banner with "JOHN" on the left and "WAYNE" on the right, with Colt's single line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's patent information, followed by the Rampant Colt logo in gold characters. Cyl. features a gold rope band at the front and rear, as well as a portrait of John Wayne and an engraved scene of John Wayne on horse back. Rear grip strap is marked with John Wayne's "D" logo and signature in gold characters. Sides of the frame and right side of the bbl. exhibit scroll pattern engraving, with the upper surface of the ejector rod housing exhibiting a gold wavy line and dot design. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the sides of the hammer, which are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain natural white grips. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. All parts are matching via the assembly # "0648" and includes the frame (rear flat beneath left grip panel), loading gate, cyl., as well as the trigger guard and rear grip strap (on left beneath grip panel). Grips are matching via "JWC0648" in red ink on the interior of the panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: commemorative wood display case featuring a red suede lined interior and commemorative plaque, containing x1 case key. CONDITION: extremely fine, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory blue finish overall. Cyl. exhibits only a faint dragline at one of the cyl. stops. Mirror bore, retaining sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics (with cyl. removed to preserve condition). Grips have acquired a slight mellow patina, exhibiting a few small checks at the top of the panels. Display case shows some light wear, but otherwise remains sound and presents nicely. (25-6195/MLW).
