SHERIFF'S MODEL FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER. REVOLVER. Cal 44-40. S# 11329. Bbl. 4" ejectorless with blade front sight. Mfg. 1883. Page 266 of "COLT'S DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER MODEL OF 1878" by Don Wilkerson states that only 247 revolvers were manufactured in this combination of finish, bbl. length and without ejector. Full blue finish with 6 shot fluted cyl. 2 Piece checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt grips. Left side of trigger guard bow marked "44 CF". Left side of bbl. bears acid etched panel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating the following: "Serial Number: 11329 / Caliber: .44/c / Barrel Length: 4" / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not Listed: / Shipped To: Simmons Hardware Company / Address: St. Louis, Missouri / Date of Shipment: October 30, 1883 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 10. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of original blue; balance fading to an even brown patina with scattered light pin prick oxidation. Etched panel is fading but visible. Grips are lightly worn and have browned with age. Fair to good bore is lightly frosted with occasional spots of light pitting. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (01-28611/BH).
