Lot 3348 FIRST GENERATION COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER.

Cal. 38 WCF. S# 208668. Bbl. 4 5/8". Single Action Army revolver mfg. by Colt in 1901. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the cal. designation, with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by a mostly faded encircled Rampant Colt logo. Frame and hammer exhibit an older reapplied case color finish, with remaining metal components exhibiting a reapplied blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt checkered brown hard rubber grips. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Grips are matching via the full S#, which is hand inscribed on the interior of the panels, each seemingly by a different hand. Cyl. is numbered "13" on the rear. CONDITION: frame and hammer retain large amounts of their reapplied case colored finish, exhibiting areas of wear fading to gray patina, with some spots of light surface oxidation and pitting present overall. Blued parts retain the majority of their reapplied finish, showing some areas of wear and thinning, some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some spots of light pitting beneath the finish. Grips straps show scattered spots of flaking fading to brown patina. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics with tight lock up. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as a few superficial handling marks, with the right grip exhibiting a chip at the bottom right corner of the panel, as well as a small chip on the butt.
