Lot 3345 FIRST GENERATION COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY BISLEY

MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Special. S# 284431. Bbl. 7 1/2". Single Action Army Bisley Model revolver mfg. by Colt in 1906. Left side of the later production replacement bbl. is marked "(BISLEY MODEL)/ COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL", with Colt's single line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Frame, loading gate, and hammer exhibit a case colored finish, with remaining metal components exhibiting a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt checkered brown hard rubber grips. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Grips are matching via "4431" which is lightly inscribed on the interior of the panels. Cyl. is unnumbered. CONDITION: frame, loading gate, and hammer retain trace to fair amounts of their original case colored finish, with the balance fading to a mottled gray patina, showing scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Bbl. retains the majority of its original blue finish, showing some areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray, as well as some scattered superficial handling marks overall. Ejector rod housing, trigger guard, and rear grip strap have largely faded to a gray/brown patina. Near mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, although the cyl. does rotate slightly counter clockwise when hammer is down. Grips show moderate smoothing and scattered superficial handling marks, with the left panel exhibiting a chip at the bottom right corner, and the right panel exhibiting 2 large chips on the butt.
