Lot 3340 COLT FIRST GENERATION SAA REVOLVER.
Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). S# 237848. Bbl. 5 1/2". 6-shot fluted cyl. Original finish was blue and case colored. Right side of frame above the trigger guard has hand scratched numbers "447" & "186967". 2-piece checkered hard rubber grips. Butt off grips have dot stamped markings "ER" on the right panel and "C.B.L." on the left panel. Mfg. in 1903. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a Mexican double loop style holster with stamped daisy and ornate border ornamentation. Leather cartridge belt has shell loops removed. This example is also accompanied by a Indian Territory Gun and Pawn letter stating that this revolver formerly belonged to George Hook of Claremore, OK who was a friend of Will Rogers. CONDITION: metal has faded to gray/brown showing scattered very light pitting and corrosion. Grips have worn checkering. Sound mechanics. Bore has worn rifling showing some very light pitting.
