CHAMBERED IN DESIRABLE 41 COLT WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 41 Colt. S# 136047. Bbl. 4 3/4". Mfg. 1890. The 41 Colt chambering, while not exactly rare is still quite scarce on comparison to other calibers. Introduced in 1885 to the SAA line, 1 year ahead of 38 cal introduction, only 19,676 SAAs were chambered in this caliber which is less than half of 38 W.C.F. production (50,520). Blued bbl., 6 shot fluted cyl & grip frame. Case hardened black powder frame and hammer. 2 Piece checkered hard rubber eagle grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating the following: "Serial Number: 136047 / Caliber: .41/c / Barrel Length: 4 3/4" / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Shipped To: Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company / Address: Chicago, Illinois / Date of Shipment: October 29, 1890 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 20". Condition: grip frame & trigger guard frame retain retain 40% blue with front and back strap having faded to gray with scattered brown patina. Cyl. retains 30% original blue, turning brown with scattered light peppery oxidation and cyl. drag line. Bbl. & ejector housing retain 40% original blue, mostly in protected areas with left side of bbl. exhibiting evidence of a clean up having all finish removed from muzzle to 3" rearward. Frame shows 30% muted original case colors, notably stronger in protected areas. Frame screw slots show minor distortion. Very good grips with a few areas of flattening to diamonds. Very good bore has a lightly frosted appearance with sharp rifling. (01-28381/BH). ANTIQUE. $4,500-6,500.
