COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 41 Colt. S# 298954. Bbl. 4 3/4". Single Action Army revolver mfg. by Colt in 1907. Left side of the bbl. is marked "41 COLT." within a banner, with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by an encircled Rampant Colt logo. Frame features near full coverage bordered scrollwork on punch dot backgrounds, with crosshatched sections present on either side forward of the cyl. Recoil shield is engraved with a scene of a frontiersman on horse back and a standing Native American, with an oval shaped side portrait of a Native American engraved on the loading gate. Bbl. features matching pattern engraving, which terminates in a pineapple finial along the top behind the front sight. Complimentary scrollwork extends to the ejector rod housing, cyl. trigger guard, and back strap, with the backstrap featuring a foliate motif at the upper section and the cyl. exhibiting a foliate band at the rear. Underside of frame is engraved "ENGR.J.HARPER" above the S#. Metal components exhibit a nicely reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece natural white grip, featuring a relief carved buffalo head on the left side, and a horse head on the right. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Cyl. is unnumbered. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, showing some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Cyl. base pin shows mild wear on forward edges. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent mild to moderate spots/patches of pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grip has acquired a pleasing mellow patina, showing light superficial handling marks. (25-1211/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
