Lot 3294 CASED, CUSTOM ENGRAVED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY

BISLEY MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. S# 263510. Bbl. 7 1/2". Single Action Army Bisley Model revolver mfg. by Colt in 1905. Left side of the bbl. is marked "(BISLEY MODEL) 45 COLT", with Colt's single line address marked across the top. Bbl. appears to be a contemporary replacement, with markings having been reapplied. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by the Rampant colt logo. Frame features custom aftermarket engraving consisting of scrollwork on a punch dot background on the sides of the frame, loading gate, rear grip strap, and trigger guard. Sides of frame are further engraved with a starburst motif and wavy line & dot pattern on the recoil shield and loading gate. Top strap features a wavy line & star design. Cyl. exhibits matching pattern bordered scrollwork with foliate motifs and a foliate band at the rear. Rear grip strap exhibits additional scrollwork, with a diamond and dot pattern engraved at the center. Bbl. is engraved with matching pattern unbordered scroll engraving. Ejector rod housing shows light scroll engraving on the right, with a wavy line & dot design on the upper surface. Metal components exhibit a reapplied nickel plated finish overall, save for on the trigger and frame screws, which exhibit a reheated nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece aftermarket custom checkered dark wood grips. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: wood display case, featuring a brass circular escutcheon on the lid. Interior of case features a blue velour lined fitted interior featuring a 24-rd. wood cartridge block. Case contains a contemporary oil bottle, wood cleaning rod, and wood handled screwdriver. Interior of lid features a Harper & Smith retailer label. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied nickel plated finish, with the nickel having acquired a cloudy appearance and showing some superficial handling marks and spots of pinprick flaking. Loading gate and hammer show a couple of spots of flaking. Nitre blue parts retain the majority of their finish, with some light wear. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Action is out of time. Grips show some superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Exterior of case shows scattered marks, scratches and minor impressions, with a replaced section of wood at the rear of the lid. Case lockplate is absent. Interior is very good overall.
