Cal. 45 Colt. S# 120180. Bbl. shortened to 5 1/2". Black powder frame. 6-shot fluted cyl. Bullseye ejector rod head. Blue and case colored finish. Left side of receiver is stamped "U.S.". Frame, grip straps, and cyl. have matching S#s. Bbl. is unnumbered. 1-piece walnut grip, left panel has remaining evidence of an illegible cartouche. Butt of the right grip panel is stamped with inspector's initials "R.A.C.". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating: "Serial Number: 120180/ Caliber: .45/c/ Barrel Length: Not Listed/ Finish: Blue/ Type of Stocks: Not Listed/ Sold To: United States Government. Delivered To: U.S. Government Inspector/ Address: At Colt Plant/ Date of Shipment: February 17, 1887/ Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 300/ Remarks: Records also indicate the return of the above mentioned firearm to the factory for repair and refinished. It was subsequently reshipped to the U.S. Government on January 2, 1896.". CONDITION: bbl. and ejector retain 50% blue showing areas of fading and handling marks. Grip straps and cyl. have largely faded to gray showing spotted light corrosion. Frame shows a small amount of fading case colors in protected areas with scattered spots of corrosion.
