^Lot 3280 BEAUTIFUL TURNBULL RESTORATION U.S. COLT SINGLE

ACTION ARMY CAVALRY MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. S# 17240. Bbl. 7 1/2". Top of the bbl. is marked with Colt's single line address bracketed by 2 crosses, with "J/ P" marked on the underside towards the breech. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by "US". Trigger guard and side of the cyl. are stamped "C". Metal components exhibit masterfully reapplied finishes by Turnbull, to include the case colored frame, loading gate, and hammer, blued bbl., ejector rod housing assembly, and grip straps, as well as the nitre blued cyl. base pin, frame screws, and trigger. Frame is mounted with a contemporary 1-piece smooth wood grip, stamped with an inspector's cartouche on the left side. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Bullseye ejector rod head. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, rear grip strap, cyl., and bbl. Cyl., bbl. grip, cyl. base pin and some small parts are replacements added at the time of refurbishment. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original bbl., cyl., grip, and bag of small parts (bbl. and cyl. are matching), as well as an original silver 6-pointed star sheriff's badge marked "SHERIFF/ ADAMS CO. NEB.". Rear is stamped "JOHN S. WEBER/ CHICAGO. ILL.". Pin and retention assembly on rear of badge have broken off and are absent. CONDITION: near excellent, with metal components retaining virtually all of their Turnbull reapplied finishes, showing a few scattered superficial handling marks and scratches. Cyl. shows no dragline. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grip is excellent overall. Original parts exhibit a gray pitted appearance. Original grip exhibits a large chip on the right side at the bottom right corner. An especially attractive example of a Turnbull restored U.S. Colt Single Action Army Cavalry Model revolver.
