Lot 3275 OUTSTANDING AND SCARCE HENRY NETTLETON INSPECTED
U.S. SINGLE ACTION ARMY CAVALRY MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 45 LC. S# 48277. Henry Nettleton inspected revolvers remain one of the most difficult to obtain as he only inspected approx. 3,000 units (47,000-50,000 S# range). While scarcity alone makes this a desirable Cavalry revolver, existing specimens with this level of original finish rarely present themselves on the market. This revolver would be a worthy addition to any advanced Martial or Colt collection! Bbl. 7 1/2". Black powder frame. 6-shot fluted cyl. Bullseye ejector rod head. Blue and case colored finish. Frame, bbl., grip straps, and cyl. have matching S#s. Frame, trigger guard, and butt of right grip panel have "HN" (Henry Nettleton) inspector marks. 1-piece walnut grip stamped on bottom "HN". Mfg. in 1878. CONDITION: over 60% original bbl. and ejector blue showing honest light carry wear and scratches. Grip straps and cyl. retain 30% original blue showing small spots of pitting at butt. Original frame case colors lightly visible overall but remain strong in protected areas. Lightly sanded and refinished grips show small chips and minor handling marks around the butt. Sound mechanics. Bore is generally bright with sound rifling. (01-28217/DS). ANTIQUE. $12,000-18,000.
