MEDIUM FRAME SLIDE ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44-40. S#. 78851. Bbl. 26" round. German silver blade rocky mountain front w/ sporting rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer. Lower tang behind S#. is stamped "SFP 68". Left side of action has rampant colt motif. 2 piece walnut forend has double line borders. Straight grip walnut stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Total of 89,777 mfg. 1884-1902. CONDITION: over 70% lightly worn original blue showing carry wear w/ handling marks. Forearm has lightly worn original finish showing scratches & marks. Sanded & refinished stock has a rough appearance w/ dents & marks. Sound action. Bore retains strong rifling showing spots of pitting. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Norm Greenberg Collection.
