Lot 3228 SCARCE & EARLY WINCHESTER MODEL 1905 DELUXE

SELF-LOADING RIFLE. Cal. 35 WSL. S# 9718. Bbl. 22". Model 1905 Deluxe self-loading rifle mfg. by Winchester during the second year of production (1906). The top of the bbl. exhibits markings stipulating Winchester's mfg. and patent information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Metal components exhibit a nicely reapplied blue finish overall. Deluxe high grade checkered wood pistol grip buttstock and forend, with Winchester checkered black hard rubber buttplate. Stock and forend have been lightly sanded and revarnished, with the checkering having been recut at one time. Left side of the receiver tang and interior of the buttstock tang channel are unmarked. Dovetailed combination front sight, with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the upper and lower assemblies. MAGS: 1 reblued 5-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some scattered superficial handling marks and spots of light surface oxidation, with light pitting present beneath the bluing overall. Dark bore, exhibiting moderate pitting, while retaining fair to good rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, with some spots of bubbling and flaking to the varnish. Left side of the forend exhibits a small crack that stems from the receiver, with the right side of the buttstock exhibiting a large crack that stems from the receiver.
