Cal. 22 Short. S# 622835. Bbl. 24". Model 1890 slide action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1919. Left quarter flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Winchester's mfg. and patent information, followed by the model and cal. designations. Plain wood straight grip buttstock and grooved forend have been sanded and revarnished at one time. Dovetailed blade front sight, with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the upper and lower assemblies. CONDITION: metal components retain scant traces of their original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting a dark gray patina, with scattered spots of mild surface oxidation, and varying degrees of pitting overall. Dark pitted bore, retaining fair rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with a crack present on either side of the buttstock on the toe.
